18 Bohemian Dried Palm Leaves Wedding Ideas

Palm leaves can be a great way to add a tropical or beachy vibe to your wedding, and they can be used in a variety of ways, such as on wedding stationery, in bouquets, and even on cakes.

Recently, florists have been using dried palm leaves in their arrangements as well. When dried, palm leaves become more sculptural and textured, and their bright green color fades into softer, more muted shades of mint, sage, taupe, and tobacco. These muted tones can give a floral arrangement an aged, earthy look that works well in “blank canvas” venues with light-colored palettes and surfaces, such as stone walls, industrial concrete, or desert landscapes.

You can use dried palm leaves to create a dramatic ceremony backdrop, incorporate them into your bouquet for a unique texture, mix them into table arrangements, or display them in bud vases on their own. Here are some ideas for incorporating this trend into your wedding.

Fold palm fronds and place them in vases to finish off the look on your tablescape.

The visual appeal of a centerpiece is greatly increased when the arrangement has a variety of colors and sizes. Use at least two colors in each arrangement, but consider using three or four if you have the space. Add contrast by choosing different types of containers: tall vases, square ones with flat sides or shallow bowls. You can also use different sizes within one container type to add interest to your design!

If you want to use palm fronds as accents throughout your wedding reception tablescape but don’t have enough for full centerpieces, try folding them up just like flower petals (see step 1) and placing them in small vessels around the perimeter of each table. You could even place them right along the edge of plates if they fit well! Add a few leaves here and there on napkins or runners too if they’ll fit comfortably without causing problems later (like crumpling).

Dried Palm Leaves Backdrop

Create a rustic palm-leaf wedding arch using base boards and into which you can securely insert the palm fronds.

Once you’ve selected the base board, use a drill to create holes in the board at each of the locations where you want your palm fronds to be secured. If you’re using bamboo or wood as your base boards, then drive two nails into each position about an inch away from the end of the board for maximum stability. If you’re using plastic or metal, then drill holes directly through them and secure them with screws.

After drilling all of your holes and/or driving in all of your nails/screws (you’ll need some kind of hammering tool for this), insert one end of a long piece of string through one hole and pull it out on the other side so that there is enough slack left over to tie off around something sturdy like furniture legs or poles before moving onto attaching any fronds themselves!

Hang your garlands from string lights in your dining room and fill them with seasonal flowers or greenery

Hang your garlands from string lights in your dining room and fill them with seasonal flowers or greenery. Use a variety of dried palm leaves to create a statement, like this bride did at her reception in Kaikoura, New Zealand.

  • Note: You’ll need to use the correct kind of string light for this—they can be found at discount stores or hardware stores.

Use palm fronds to create unique, rustic centerpieces.

If you’re going for a rustic vibe, dried palm leaves make an excellent choice. They add a touch of whimsy and charm to your decorations. You can use them as centerpieces, wedding arch decorations, or to create other unique table settings.

Make simple arrangements of offerings made of dried palm leaves across your table setting

Dried palm leaves are a great way to decorate your wedding reception tables and make them look more exotic. The best part is that you can use dried palm leaves in place of flowers and still achieve the same effect. You can also use dried palm leaves as a backdrop behind other decorations or table settings, or even as runners!

If you’re interested in using dried palm leaves as table centerpieces, we recommend:

  • Using large bunches of them on top of an arrangement with greenery (this will create an interesting contrast).
  • Using small bunches scattered about for a minimalist effect (which works especially well if you have white linens).
  • Arranging them into simple arrangements across the entire length of your table or just along one side.

Add dried fresh flowers or greenery to your dried palm leaves centerpiece to create a statement.

  • Consider using dried flowers in lieu of fresh ones if you’re not able to find them in your area, or if they aren’t in season.
  • You can add berries and berries mixes on top of dried palm leaves or use them as accents throughout the wedding décor.
